MagnusCards champions accessibility and empathy for Cadence customers
Free mobile app empowers Cadence’s neurodiverse, elderly and English as Second Language (ESL) customers to bank with greater confidence and independence.
Cadence Bank recently launched its collaboration with MagnusCards by Magnusmode, a free mobile app that provides visual, audio and text guides to help bank customers navigate everyday activities with greater ease and confidence.
MagnusCards is for anyone who benefits from using step-by-step instructions, including neurodivergent individuals, caregivers, seniors, newcomers and organizations aiming to create inclusive experiences.
Why MagnusCards?
The idea for this addition to our tech platform came from Colette Barron, a regional security manager on the bank’s Financial Crimes team. She used the Teammate Suggestion Program, hoping her idea would spark meaningful change.
“Watching the collaboration and dedication that brought it to life has been truly inspiring,” said Barron. “By championing accessibility and empathy, we not only enhance the customer experience but also strengthen our role as a trusted community partner committed to equity and innovation.”
Though Barron doesn’t have neurodivergent family members, she’s seen the challenges firsthand through friends and her previous work in the public sector. “Witnessing moments when others responded without compassion further fueled my motivation to advocate for greater understanding, inclusion and support—not only for neurodivergent individuals, but for anyone who could benefit from a little extra help,” Barron said.
Feedback has been highly positive
Reaction to Cadence’s MagnusCards has been well received. Cadence customer Abby Herman, who has been diagnosed as autistic, says having the cards makes her feel more confident. Her favorite ones are those on budgeting and creating an emergency fund.
“Many times, the most difficult thing is knowing where to start, and these decks definitely help with starting and knowing what to do next,” said Herman.
“I like that everything is broken down into single steps, rather than having to tackle the task as a whole. The decks are set up in a way that makes it easy to focus on just one step at a time,” she continued.
“As someone who is different, it’s very easy for me to feel ‘othered.’ This makes me feel like my differences are being addressed without feeling ashamed or like they’re being ignored. It feels like I am being met where I am, and I can’t express enough how much this feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders,” Herman concluded.
